What can Conductive slip rings do:
Conductive slip rings can transmit conductive power,low-frequency control signals,and,under certain aperture sizes,higher-frequency signals such as Ethernet,SDI,camera link,HDMI,USB2.0,and USB3.0.The advantages of Conductive slip rings lie in theirsimple structure,small size,and low cost.However,they havedisadvantages as well.Due to contact sliding friction,they generatedebris,resulting in limited rotational lifespan and lower permissiblerotational speeds.
What can Fiber Optic Rotary Joints do:
Fiber optic rotary joints can transmit control signals,video signals,or other high-frequency digital signals with alarge transmission capacity.They use non-contact opticaltransmission,have a much longer rotating lifespan thanconductive slip rings,allow for high rotation speeds,andhave high reliability due to the absence of debris.Thedownside is that optical-conductive conversion devices arerequired at both ends,and they must be installed on therotating axis of the equipment without through-holes.
What can RF Slip Rings do:
RF slip rings can transmit RF analog signals.Single-channel RF slip rings can transmit DC to 40GHz,whiledual-channel ones can reach up to 18GHz,and thosewith more than two channels can reach 5GHz.RF sliprings come in contact and induction types.Contact-typeones,like conductive slip rings,have wear issues but cantransmit a wide frequency band.RF slip rings can allowfor small through-holes,enabling them to be used inconjunction with fiber optic rotary joints.Both RF and fiber optic rotary joints can be combined with conductive slip rings.
